Chris Young has one of the finest voices of any country singer out there, so he’s pretty picky when it comes to singing duets. In fact, the only collaboration he’s ever released with a female act is a duet with Patty Loveless on the soundtrack to the Gwyneth Paltrow-Tim McGraw movie, Country Strong.

For Young, the bar for creating a stellar country duet is set so high thanks to iconic collaborations like Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss on “Whiskey Lullaby.”

Young tells Rare Country, “I think hearing him and Alison on that song is just one of those things where you stop and go, ‘Oh my God! They sound great together.'”

When it came time to record the duet “Think of You” on his new album, “I’m Comin’ Over,” Young only had one singer in mind.

“Cassadee [Pope] was totally my first choice to come in and do this,” he says. “I was just really glad that she said yes and agreed to do it.”

As for singing in the studio with Pope, Young adds, “It was just cool being in the same room with her and really hearing our voices work together and hearing some of the stuff that she does. She’s just a phenomenal singer.”

Chris Young and Cassadee Pope will be singing their duet live on Young’s “I’m Comin’ Over Tour,” which starts Jan. 21, 2016, in Massachusetts.
