Check out the nearly 40-year-old ACM acceptance speech from Loretta Lynn

1976 was a long time ago, but this clip from that special year in the career and life of Loretta Lynn is as endearing as ever. Taking the stage to accept the Entertainer of the Year award, country’s very own coal miner’s daughter finds herself at a loss of words.

“I’d like to say that I sure am proud, and I want to thank all of ‘ya,” she gushed.

Lynn gushed again recently, as she once again accepted an ACM Award. As a 50th ACM Award winner of the Crystal Milestone Award, Lynn will officially receive the honor at the 9th Annual ACM Honors ceremony on September 1 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

Other off-camera honorees announced this week included the Career Achievement Award for legendary group Alabama, the Gene Weed Special Achievement Award for Luke Bryan and the Jim Reeves International Award for Eric Church.

There were also awards handed out to the amazing venues in which country superstars play, including Chicago’s very own Joe’s Bar for Nightclub of the Year, the Country Thunder USA for Festival of the Year and the famed Hollywood Bowl for Large Capacity Venue of the Year.
