Carrie Underwood readies for the release of her new album with a performance that surprised just about everyone youtube

It’s a big week for Carrie Underwood.

Not only is she in the midst of celebrating the release of her brand new album “Storyteller,” but will also perform her current hit single “Smoke Break” from her fifth studio album on a special Citi Concert Series performance on NBC’s “Today” show on October 23.

So, when Underwood released the news, she had a special surprise before the album release date and country music fans were obviously intrigued. What was the surprise you ask?

It was a brand new song.

In a partnership with Target, Underwood unveiled her first ever performance of her new song “Heartbeat,” a romantic little ditty with a whole lot of banjo. “’Heartbeat’ is a very personal song to me,” Underwood said in a just released video.

“It’s about going simple and being conversational and speaking about love in a way that everyone can understand – and being with the person that you love.”

Awww, we love when Underwood gets romantic.

Underwood also has the CMA Awards on the horizon, as she returns for the eighth consecutive year as host for the much anticipated awards show alongside fellow country music superstar Brad Paisley.
