Most of us are inspired by the promise of a clean slate, fresh start and the new beginning that the new year brings us. But packed into the George Dome is a gathering of 18 to 25-year-olds who are set to spend the year inspiring others.

These are the individuals attending Passion 2017 — a conference for young people that focuses on their spiritual life and walk with Christ. This contemporary form of homily and revival would hardly be complete without celebration, right? And what better way to celebrate than with live music.

Christian artist Dave Crowder kicked off the exciting three-day journey for attendees with a full-on arena performance of his song “Lift Your Weary Head Sinner,” but he didn’t make it all the way through it before a special guest stepped onstage, surprising the Passion crowd.

Carrie Underwood, a devout and open Christian, joined Dave and his band onstage to finish out his 2015 hit before thrilling the enthusiastic crowd with a rousing rendition of her spiritually fueled “Something In the Water.” And while we’ve heard this song many times before, both recorded and live, there was, indeed, something in the water during this performance. It is absolutely goose bump-inducing, raise-the-hair-on-the-back-of-your-neck, make-your-eyes-leak awesome.

There’s no doubt that Carrie was feeling the spirit.

Even their shared Christmas greeting reflected both Carrie and husband Mike Fisher’s intense commitment to their faith.

If you look at the biographies of your favorite country stars, you’ll find that most did get their start singing in church, just like Carrie.
