We’ve been talking babies, babies, babies for so long that when something else happens in an artist’s personal life and they share it with us, we almost don’t know where to begin. So how about if we start with the obvious … CONGRATULATIONS!
We are over-the-moon to learn that the talented, handsome and — apparently — very romantic “Like I Loved You” singer, Brett Young, has popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Taylor Mills. And she, of course, said yes.
Brett shared the news on his Instagram page with a photo of himself and his now fiancée, Taylor, and excitedly captioned the photo gallery showing scenes from their romantic engagement, “SHE SAID YES!!!!”
The Rare Country Awards 2017 “New Artist of the Year” told “People” that he met Taylor more than 10 years ago in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she was attending college at Arizona State University, and they dated for over six years. They took a little break when he moved to Nashville and, he admits, “I wrote a lot of my first record about her.”
He also says, “There was never any bad blood; it was just the wrong time for us. We recently got back in touch and realized that we were both finally in the same place and knew it was right.”
Brett says that he proposed in Oxford, Mississippi, where he attended college, but will probably wed in Arizona.
“We will likely get married there, so I thought it would be romantic to propose where I went to school,” he said. “We were able to get a suite with a large covered patio and the hospitality staff at the hotel set it up while we were at dinner, so it was waiting for us when we got back.”
The custom diamond that Taylor wears was designed by Brett and David M. Kodner of David Kodner Personal Jewelers, and it features both Brett’s and Taylor’s initials.
From the looks of the rose petals and champagne that are pictured in the “People” feature, Brett is proving to be as romantic as we always thought he would be. However, he gave us an earlier hint of those romantic tendencies back on Valentine’s Day when he shared side-by-side photos of himself with Taylor, one image from their early dating days and the other 10 years later and still adorable. He captioned the photos, “Still my best friend more than 10 years later. Love you baby. Happy Valentines Day! 💑”
That should have been our first hint.
No wedding date or pertinent details have been announced yet, but Brett, who is currently promoting his new single, “Mercy,” will be out on Thomas Rhett’s “Life Changes Tour” starting April 5, and that runs to Oct. 27, so the wedding may not be until late this year or sometime in 2019.
Whenever and wherever it happens, there’s no doubt in our minds that this will be a fairy tale.
