Kimberly Williams-Paisley is just like the rest of us. She has experienced loss and pain throughout the years. Yet, she continues to put one foot in front of another to stay strong not only for herself, but for her children and her husband, Brad Paisley.

But there are days where it isn’t as easy, and Kimberly just experienced one of those days.

“One year ago today my mom passed away after an 11 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease,” Kimberly posted on her Instagram page on Nov. 16 alongside a picture of her mother. “Today I feel melancholy and heavy, missing this smile of hers, missing these sparkling eyes witnessing life with me. Today I’m hugging my children extra tightly, praying that one day, perhaps partly as a result of our testimony, we will live in a world without this devastating disease.”

Fans will recall that Kim said goodbye to her mother, Linda Payne Williams, on Nov. 16, 2016 after her mom’s long battle with an incurable form of dementia. Since her mother’s diagnosis became public, Kimberly has often used her star power to speak up about Alzheimer’s disease.

Our well wishes remain with Kimberly, Brad, their family and everyone who loved Linda.
