A few weeks have passed since the uproar over Beyoncé’s performance with the Dixie Chicks at The 50th Annual CMA Awards on Nov. 2. Yet, some country music fans still wonder why their performance of “Daddy Lessons” was even included in the otherwise very traditional lineup.
As the days and weeks have passed, Beyoncé’s name has found a way to creep back into country music, per the recently announced nominations for the upcoming People’s Choice Awards.
It was announced that Blake Shelton will go head-to-head with the urban pop princess in the favorite album of the year category. Blake’s album “If I’m Honest” will go up against Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” alongside fellow nominees Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Drake.
And if we are being honest, we sort of have an idea who country music fans will be voting for.
Other country stars nabbing PCA nominations include Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, The Band Perry, Florida Georgia Line, Reba McEntire, Little Big Town, Lonestar and Zac Brown Band.
Voting for the People’s Choice Awards ends on Dec. 15.
