It’s not every day you come home from high school to find Blake Shelton sitting at your kitchen table. Then again, it’s not every day Blake Shelton lights your T-shirt on fire either — but both of those stories came true for Thomas Rhett.
“I feel like I came home one day from school and Blake was actually in my Dad’s kitchen,” Thomas told a “Voice” reporter just hours before he performed on the show April 26. “I think they were writing a song, and I asked Blake for help with my English paper.”
Blake, however, had a much different recollection of their first meeting.
“He had a drama project, and we watched it that day,” Blake said. “I remember it because I was going ‘this kid is screwed if he’s already done drama class,’ but it turns out it worked out for you.”
As if that wasn’t embarrassing enough for Thomas, the man who just came off a six-week No. 1 with one of the biggest songs in music, the young man conducting the interview was clearly not much of a Rhett fan.
How do we know? You’ll have to watch the video for yourself — and although it’s all comedic gold, the interviewer’s unintended insult takes place at the 1:50 mark.
