Blake Shelton just opened up about his new record and Miranda Lambert’s impact on it YouTube

Blake Shelton’s new love, Gwen Stefani, has taken a bold approach to her album, “This is What Truth Feels Like,” by dropping songs about their budding romance and about her ex, Gavin Rossdale. She’s also been suspected to have taken possible shots toward Miranda Lambert.

Whether or not the latter is true, don’t be fooled into thinking that the “Lonely Tonight” singer’s album, “If I’m Honest,” will be carved out of the same formula.

“It’s not like there’s all these ‘juicy’ details,” Blake told CMT After Midnite’s Cody Alan. “But it definitely just lends itself to emotions and things that you go through when you go through a divorce.”

Call it an ode to moving on if you will. Either way, Blake seems to be over-the-moon about the upcoming project.

“The last year-and-a-half of my life has just literally blown up in my face, and that’s okay [for me] because I’m a country singer. I at least get to take all of that, and put it into music,” he said.

Earlier this year, we got a sneak peek into Blake’s upcoming album with the single, “Came Here to Forget,” his first since his divorce from Miranda. The song shot up to No. 18 on the Billboard Country Airplay charts. If “If I’m Honest” is packed with songs like that, we will be over-the-moon too!

“If I’m Honest” will be released on May 20, 2016.
