Honesty is certainly the best policy for Blake Shelton when it comes to battling tabloid rumors.
By laying everything about his split from Miranda Lambert and new relationship with Gwen Stefani out there on his new album, “If I’m Honest,” Blake has nothing to hide from the gossip rags.
In this clip from his recent press conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame, Blake says, “My life is crazy. I’ll be the first to tell you. It makes sense that they report on me. It has been insane. I don’t have any secrets. I don’t have one single secret. I walk out of my house with my head held high every day. I don’t have any land mines I have to avoid or anything. I’m not ashamed of anything.”
Since he is on television as a coach on “The Voice,” Blake understands the public has a fascination with his life as a celebrity. Heck, he even admits he’s fascinated by other celebrities’ personal lives, too.
“You just gotta accept it and know they’re gonna talk about it,” Blake explains, “and that’s OK, too, because I think about celebrities that I know of and I talk about ’em. You know, like, I wonder about ’em and the people that I read about or see movies– I heard that this crap went down. I do it, too. It makes sense that it happens. It just is what it is.”
That being said, Blake challenges the tabloids to find something about his personal life he hasn’t already made public.
He says, “The fact that they want to report on my life — dig into it. Get after it. Have a field day and see what you can dig up. The truth is, they dig up [that I’m having] twins. They can’t really find anything about me, so you end up hearing crazy stuff. So, that part is what it is. I don’t know what you can do about it, I just know it’s a part of it.”
For the record, Blake and his new lady, Gwen Stefani, are NOT expecting twins. That was just a joke.
In the meantime, you can see Blake’s new exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. It’s now open through November.
