If you’ve been keeping up with NBC’s “The Voice,” chances are you caught Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s recent joint performance of their new holiday hit, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” during the Top 10 eliminations episode.
Now that Blake has been named “People” magazine’s 2017 “Sexiest Man Alive,” daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres took a moment to recall that particular performance. But, what she remembers from it might be a little different than what you actually saw on TV.
“I was watching ‘The Voice,’ and boy, this is really getting to his head,” Ellen said of the country crooner’s newfound “sexy” status during the Dec. 8 “The Ellen DeGeneres” show, which featured Gwen as a special guest.
That’s when a clip of a shirtless and, well, pantsless Blake popped up on screen. He was shown sporting only a guitar and a pair of boxer briefs with his name written across the back while dancing on “The Voice” stage. Somehow, Ellen even managed to fit in a few hilarious facial expressions from Blake’s co-stars on the show, coaches Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson, as they supposedly caught a glimpse of their half-naked co-star singing the holiday jam with his ladylove.
“He’s just full of himself now. And, his name’s on his underwear. I wonder where he got that idea,” Ellen then joked of Blake, while welcoming Gwen to the set.
And even though Blake didn’t actually sing in his underwear, Ellen asked Gwen, “Is he acting different now? Is [his ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ title] getting to him?”
“Yes. It’s totally, it’s tough to be around him now,” Gwen joked before revealing that she actually feels responsible for Blake’s new “sexy” image. “He’s so not that person. He doesn’t even like to do a photo shoot. You can never convince him to do it.”
“If you think about it …what defines sexy? It’s really so personal,” she continued. “And for me, it’s really that big, old heart and that sense of humor. He doesn’t even take himself seriously, and he’s such an incredible person, so it works out. That’s sexy. To me it is.”
We couldn’t agree more, Gwen! That’s part of the reason why Blake is currently nominated for three awards in this year’s Rare Country Awards, including Fan Moment of the Year, Grand Ole Opry Moment of the Year and Male Artist of the Year. And, there’s still time for you to decide the winners. Vote now through Dec. 13 at RareCountryAwards.com. Winners will be revealed during a livestreamed concert event on Dec. 14 in Nashville.
