Anytime that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are spotted out together, they’re usually sporting huge smiles on their faces. This time though, the sweet couple of nearly two years came together for a much less cheerful reason.

On Sept. 23, they attended the memorial service for their dear friend, and “The Voice” co-star, Carson Daly’s late mother.

Carson’s beloved mama, Pattie Daly Caruso, passed away suddenly on Sept. 17, in her Palm Desert, California, home after suffering a heart attack. She was 73 years old, according to the Desert Sun.

According to an Instagram page dedicated to the couple, collectively known as “Shefani,” the funeral service for Pattie took place in Southern California. Blake attended dressed in a black suit coat and dark jeans. As for Gwen, she also opted for black, and paired her outfit with a heart-shaped necklace and knee-high boots.

Prior to the memorial service, Carson took to Twitter to thank his friends for all of their love and support as he continues to grieve for his mother – a breast cancer survivor and TV personality in her own right.

“There are no words for the loss of mom,” he tweeted. “Thank you for the incredible outpouring of love. It helps. Please hug the ones you love most tonight.”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carson and his friends and family at this time.
