When Jason Aldean named his 2009 album “Wide Open,” he couldn’t have picked a better title, because that’s exactly what was happening to his career — it was blowing wide open.

Coming off his first No. 1 album and first headlining tour, 2009 was poised to be a breakout year for the Georgian.

Jason got things rolling in a big way on May 5 by taping an episode of “CMT Crossroads” with rock icon Bryan Adams.

In the “Crossroad”s tradition of singing each of the paired duo’s hit songs, a very skinny Jason took on a number of Bryan’s big hits, including the romantic staple “Heaven.” Stripped down to just a piano and acoustic guitar, Jason did an admirable job, but the real treat was when Bryan joined in on the harmonies.

Toward beginning of the guitar solo and again at the end of the performance, you knew Bryan was loving it as he gave Aldean the best compliment possible — his nod of approval.
