Ashley Monroe sings of heartbreak – just days before her friends Blake and Miranda’s divorce YouTube Screenshot

While country music fans worldwide have been reeling over the divorce of Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton this week, one is left to wonder what the people closest to them have been going through.

How much did they know?

Whose side are they on?

What do they think will come next?

One of those people has to be Ashley Monroe, whose ties with both Shelton and Lambert are tight. Of course, Monroe was previously a member of The Pistol Annies alongside Lambert, and recorded the hit duet “Lonely Tonight” with Shelton.

So as Monroe stepped onto that famed Grand Ole Opry stage just days before her friends would officially announce their divorce, you have to wonder what was running through her head, especially since she was there to sing the heartbreaker of a song “The Blade,” which will serve as the first single off her upcoming new album of the same name.

And while she has yet to talk in public about the breakup of her friends’ marriage, Monroe is scheduled to appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on July 27 and then appear alongside Lambert the very next day at a special one night only show in Nashville.
