An “America’s Got Talent” favorite sends birthday wishes to her departed father Instagram/@evieclair

Fathers are truly special. They play such an important role in the lives of their sons and daughters. And, as kids grow older, they usually find that the bond they share with their parents becomes even greater.

That’s why it’s so incredibly tough when dads pass away, especially when their children are still young.

Fans of the popular NBC series “Americas Got Talent” saw that sad story unfold on television when they were introduced to young singer Evie Clair. If you recall, the teenager’s strong and supportive daddy, Amos Ablanalp, was fighting Stage IV cancer during her journey on the show. Sadly, he lost his battle on Sept. 7, less than two weeks before his daughter competed in the season 12 “AGT” finals.

Evie, who struggled to cope with her dad’s death, had to decide whether or not she was going to continue on in the competition. And, while she was still mourning her loss, she decided to keep on going in her father’s honor. She pre-taped her performance of Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World” as tribute to her dad, who often watched her perform from the side stage.

Now, little Evie, who placed in the top 10 during the competition’s most recent season, has shared a new update in connection to her late father. On Dec. 11, she let her Instagram fans know that that date would have been her father’s birthday.

“Happy birthday, sweet Daddy! Miss you so much!❤️” she captioned an adorable portrait of her posing alongside her doting dad with a bowling ball in her hand. “Your love and example for us will never die. I loved our bowling nights😂 you’d take me probably every other week, after everyone fell asleep. It was always a blast with you.”

In the photo, Evie looks so full of happiness. As for her dad, he too looks overjoyed to be spending quality time with his baby girl. Thank you Evie for showing your bravery and strength, and for reminding us to hug our loved ones a little bit tighter today.
