“America’s Got Talent” favorite Evie Clair speaks out about her father’s death  Instagram/@evieclair

Whether they want to or not, living in the spotlight means celebrities often take us along on the journey of their lives. Sometimes the ride is happy and fun, sometimes it’s heartbreaking, but usually, it’s a roller-coaster of all facets of the human condition. It just usually doesn’t all happen at the tender age of 13, as it has for “America’s Got Talent” finalist Evie Clair.

The beautiful young lady has mesmerized audiences with her earthy, yet ethereal vocals while competing on the show this season. All the while her father,  Amos Abplanalp — perhaps Evie’s biggest fan — battled cancer.

Amos lost his fight earlier in September, but Evie has continued in the competition in his honor.

Following her appearance on the September 19 finals, where she sang Amos’ favorite song, “What a Wonderful World,” Evie spoke about what got her through this difficult time in the public eye.

“I just prayed before that I would be able to do that, and I feel like I really had the strength from God, and I know my dad was there, and from my family and the audience,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.”

Evie also said that before her dad passed, they had discussed how the money would be used if she won. “We had a solid plan before,” she said, “I was going to use the money to find a better cure for my dad, but now we don’t know what to do with it.” And she agreed with a reporter when he noted that there were many deserving charities she could contribute to.

The winner of this season’s “America’s Got Talent” will be announced September 20. Best of luck to Evie and all of the talented contestants!
