If you’re in the mood for some absolute cuteness, then look no further than the Instagram pages of our country music stars. Proud parents like Jason and Brittany Aldean, Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard, Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott and Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman have all been sharing oodles of precious pictures and videos of their little ones.
The same goes for Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney, who in January 2017 welcomed his first child, son Asher James, with wife Hannah.
Shay and his bride, who tied the knot in October 2017, have done a great job of keeping fans updated with their 1-year-old child’s most adorable moments and milestones. But the latest moment has fans wondering if the little guy will eventually follow in the footsteps of his musical papa.
A video posted to Shay’s Instagram page on Feb. 16, shows the doting daddy “Love What You’ve Done With The Place” on guitar while in the company of his baby boy. The song, which Shay wrote with Benjy Davis, appears as an album cut on Rascal Flatts’ 10th studio album, “Back to Us,” which was released in May of 2017.
“Friday fam jam 😂. Wrote this song about my sexy wifey @hannah.billingsley 😍 🎵,” Shay captioned the clip, which shows him sitting pretzel legged on the floor and singing in front of an attentive young Asher. The little nugget, with wide eyes and perhaps the cutest chubby cheeks ever, wanders over to the sound hole of the instrument to inspect his father’s performance. The youngster even tries to cover up some of the guitar strings with his tiny hand before a giggling Shay pauses to try and teach his baby boy how to correctly play a note.
“Hit it, ready? Get the last note,” Shay tells his son, while gently placing Asher’s hand on the guitar strings. “Take this hand. Whoa!”
Hilariously, it seemed as if Asher got a little frightened at his own musical abilities after helping his daddy complete the note. So, he took a break and crawled away from the guitar.
Despite Asher’s response, fans seem pretty confident that the child, who already has a play piano (as seen in the background), is developing interest in the guitar, and will likely be playing with his pops in no time.
“He wants to learn! He’s got a good teacher, he needs to take advantage 🎸🎶🎤🎹💯,” one fan wrote.
“Asher seems to love the guitar! Future star right there,” another person added.
A third person commented, “Asher could follow his dad’s footsteps and become a country artist when he gets older.”
For now, Shay is busy with his own country career. Recently, he and bandmate Dan Smyers released a new single, “Tequila,” as the first taste of what fans can expect from their upcoming third studio album. Later this year, they will also take to the road for Rascal Flatt’s 2018 “Back to Us Tour.” Show dates and venues have not yet been announced for the trek, which will also feature Carly Pearce.
