There is no doubt about it. Keith Urban has made a remarkable evolution as a country star just in the years we’ve been aware of him. But what was he like before he was the Keith Urban we know and love?

Fortunately, Keith has been very open about his youth, and has shared numerous photos of himself as a young boy on his social media pages. And yes, he has evolved musically, but he’s also grown stylistically.

Thank goodness!

In a new photo on his Instagram page, Keith shares a photo of a 16-year-old version of himself competing in a talent contest in Australia. Looking handsome and confident, Keith is joined by a band that is dressed casually in jeans and shorts, while the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer dons a black shirt and suit.

A green suit. Maybe teal.

Now, we’re sure he sounded amazing, it’s just an interesting look for the superstar who has grown into his own style that typically involves fitted jeans, tees and combat boots for stage and chic European-cut suits for red carpets.

One thing that hasn’t changed, though, is the star’s deep appreciation for stone cold country music. At this competition, Keith and the band performed Ed Bruce’s 1980 hit “The Last Cowboy Song.” How about THAT twang?
