It’s every touring band’s worst nightmare to be involved in an accident while making their way to a show. Fortunately, it doesn’t happen often. Unfortunately, we’ve just learned that it did happen over the long Fourth of July holiday, and resulted in an incredible amount of loss for the up-and-coming Cameran Nelson band and those involved.

According to iconic Texas country star Rick Trevino’s Facebook page, the rising country band, fronted by Cameran Nelson, was traveling to Del Rio, Texas, for a July 3 show with Rick. A GoFundMe page reveals that as they made their way to the venue, the bus they were riding in was struck by another car. In order to avoid further damage, the bus swerved, sending the trailer hauling their equipment tumbling off the road, destroying their gear.

Sadly, a life was also lost in the accident.

Cameran shared images of the wreckage on his Facebook page and wrote, “Today was one of the scariest days of my life … As many miles as we travel, this is a nightmare that you never want to come true or witness.” He confirmed that everyone in his camp was “shaken up, but again, very thankful to be ok,” and he also directed everyone’s concern to the life that was lost. “Everyone’s thoughts and prayers should be with the man that passed away,” he wrote.

We send thoughts and prayers to everyone involved in this devastating accident, as well as to all touring musicians, for whom safe travel is so important.
