For a child, a birthday is one of life’s most amazing celebrations. There are presents, and cake and balloons, and everyone —  for one special day — wants to honor you.

But as a parent, birthdays have another side to them. Yes, of course, who doesn’t love presents, and cake and balloons? But often during the birthday celebration, a parent has a moment when they look at their child and suddenly notice that life moves quickly.

For Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman, this rings more true now than ever.

After her first husband’s untimely passing in 2005, Kimberly found love again in the arms of friend Stephen Schlapman. In 2006, the couple got married and, in 2007, they had their darling daughter Daisy Pearl. In January, the family adopted an infant daughter they named Dolly Grace.

So on the occasion of Daisy’s 10th birthday, suddenly Kimberly sounded like the rest of us looking for time to stop for a little while.

“These past 10 years have been filled with the greatest love I have ever known,” she wrote in a July 27 Facebook post. “Daisy Pearl, you were my first dream. Thank you for coming true in the most beautiful way. You are light & sunshine & laughter. I love you more than I could ever put into words. Happy birthday, my sweet dream come true.”
