One of the most beautiful things about country star Kacey Musgraves is that she truly lives her life following her arrow. And often, that means saying and doing things that might rub a few people the wrong way.

Well, that just might have happened on Halloween.

“Would anyone be offended if I was ‘Smokeahontas’ for Halloween?” she asked in an Oct. 31 tweet.

Of course, it wasn’t long before her followers had their share of answers. A good majority seemed to love her openness, writing remarks such as, “I would be offended if you DIDN’T” and “People get offended by EVERYTHING these days. Do you baby!”

Yet others seemed to be turned off by the tweet, saying things such as, “If you have to ask if it’s offensive, then it probably is offensive” and “If you follow this arrow then you might lose some fans.” Another wrote, “As a fan of country music and a scholar who has written on cultural appropriation … please don’t. Use your voice to resist racism.”

One follower seemed to sum it up best, saying, “Silly girl. Someone will ALWAYS be offended. Better question: do you care if they are?”

But knowing Kacey, she is definitely going always be herself, both on and off the stage. Although this year, she opted for a doll costume instead.

Fans will be flocking to see her as she heads out with Little Big Town and Midland on “The Breakers Tour” in 2018.
