“Hey Pap … miss you.#man #American #badass,” he writes in a tweet, which includes a throwback photo of him and his granddaddy spending quality time together.

In the photo, a toddler-age John appears to be celebrating a special occasion with his grandpa, and sports a party hat atop his head. Meanwhile, his “Pawpaw” holds his grandchild tight in his arms while clearly enjoying their heartwarming grandfather/grandson moment.

John’s relationship with his “Pawpaw” was truly special. In fact, in 2009, the country star released a track titled, “Good Lord and the Man.” The song, which can be found on John’s second solo album, “Son of a Preacher Man,” pays tribute to his grandpa, according to The Greeley Tribune.

Speaking of albums, John and musical partner Big Kenny, the other half of Big & Rich, are set to release a new project called “Did It for the Party.” The 13-track record is set for release on September 15.
