A country music icon adds a new grandchild to his legacy Instagram/@realjennygill

We’ve spent so much time talking about the baby boom of 2017 that it’s just beginning to dawn on us that 2018 could an even bigger year for babies in country music. Vince Gill’s daughter, Jenny Gill, just made her contribution to the effort.

Yes, our congratulations go out to Jenny and her music industry executive husband, Josh Van Valkenburg, on the arrival of their daughter, Everly June.

Everly made her debut on Jan. 12, and in a post on her Instagram page, Jenny says, “She’s perfect and we cannot be happier!!” The baby weighed 8 lbs and 7 oz at her birth.

Jenny shared the news that she was expecting the couple’s second little one, and grandbaby No. 2 for dad Vince, last July while on an Alaskan cruise.

The active mom continued to perform at smaller shows and writer’s nights all throughout her pregnancy, including getting behind the microphone at the legendary Bluebird Café when she was 33 weeks along.

It appears that she and Josh got plenty of help from grandparents Vince and Amy Grant when it came to keeping Everly’s 3-year-old, train-obsessed big brother, Wyatt, busy. Not only did the toddler get to bust a move at rehearsals for Amy and Vince’s Christmas show, he also got to shop for trains with Grandpop.

But since the arrival of Everly June, it looks like Wyatt may have a new obsession.

This musical family also includes Amy’s three children from her marriage to artist Gary Chapman—Matthew, Millie and Sarah—as well as the teenage daughter, Corrine, that Vince and Amy share. Jenny’s mom, Janis Oliver, is a former member of country duo Sweethearts of the Rodeo.

Jenny released her debut EP, “The House Sessions,” in 2016, but she isn’t the only musically-inclined, second generation person in the Gill and Grant DNA. Corrine has also shown an aptitude for performing, joining her mom onstage at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and helping her dad out at the Bridgestone Arena when he sang the national anthem before the NHL All-Star game in 2016.

And while it is way too early to predict the musical future of Everly June, Wyatt is showing some real interest in following in Vince’s footsteps.

Congratulations to Jenny, Josh and Wyatt, and to Vince and Amy on the newest addition to the musical royal family. We can’t wait to hear what music this newest addition inspires.
