Craig Morgan has kept a lot of his life private since losing his 19-year-old son, Jerry, in a boating accident in 2016. Understandably, Craig and his family needed time to grieve and come to terms with their new reality.
Now, Craig is opening up about the loss and how the Morgan family is moving forward in a new TV docu-series titled, “Morgan Family Strong.” A trailer has just been released via Yahoo!, and in it, we see Craig and his daughter, Aly, opening up about living with the loss of their beloved brother and son, Jerry.
Craig says, “Every day at 5 o’clock or 5:30 when I wake up, it’s the first thing on my mind. Every night when I go to bed, it’s the last thing I think about before I go to sleep. It’s just part of our life now.”
If you know Craig at all, you know he’s not one to stand still no matter the circumstances. He’s been pouring his creativity and energy into a new business — the Gallery at Morgan Farms. It’s family-owned store in their hometown of Dickson, Tennessee, featuring items crated from organic and recycled materials.
Running the shop is a real family affair, with Aly taking on more of the marketing and product development side. Craig takes more of a hands-on role on the product side.
Aly says, “Dad actually makes the products.”
For Craig, pouring his love and energy into the store is way for the family to connect in the wake of their profound loss.
Craig says, “There is no doubt that this store is a way for me to keep this family united.”
We also learn that Craig’s wife, Karen, has joined him on the road along with their adorable grandson, Cruze. Until about a year-and-a-half ago, Karen stayed behind to run the house while Craig was on the road. Now that she’s joined him on tour, she’s not taking to the tour bus life so well.
She says, “I have been just in the last year-and-a-half on the road with Craig, and I don’t know how he does it. I hate it. If it was not for Cruze being there, I would not go.”
Craig has hosted his own series, “All Access Outdoors,” for several years now on the Outdoor Channel, but he feels it’s now time to let his fans get to know his incredible loved ones with “Morgan Family Strong.”
Craig explains, “People are going to see a side of me that they’ve not seen, more than anything else that I’ve ever done. Our hardships, our heartaches. Having been an entertainer for a long time, my wife has done a great job of maintaining a sense of security around our family. We’ve opened the doors a little bit and kinda let everybody in.”
“Morgan Family Strong” premieres March 1 on UP TV.
