A baby-faced Kenny Chesney takes on a Conway Twitty classic, and it’s awesome

Wait, is that really Kenny Chesney?

Yes it is folks.

This vintage clip shows a very young Chesney taking on a very old country song, and although it was years ago, it sounds better than ever. Chesney performed the country classic “I’d Love to Lay You Down” on the old TNN (The Nashville Network), which Conway Twitty released back in January of 1980. The song went on to be Twitty’s 24th number one hit on the country charts.

Clips like this remind country fans how far Chesney has come in his country career. Currently getting ready to embark on his 2015 “The Big Revival Tour,” Chesney recently took a moment to focus in on what he hopes to accomplish through his upcoming performances.

“Every time, I want people to have the best night of their lives,” Chesney explained in a recent press release. “I take that very seriously. I’ve heard enough stories about people planning their summer around coming to see us, and when you know that, you wanna always give ’em more and better, trying to think what else? But, you know, these songs are the reason people come — and I don’t ever want to take away from the music.”
