It’s been a busy time for Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy. Not only is Dale Jr. in the home stretch of his last NASCAR season before retirement, but the two are also preparing for the arrival of their first baby.
Oh, and Amy also played pace car driver for the first time.
“That was awesome,” Amy exclaimed after exiting Martinsville Speedway on Oct. 29 after leading the field of NASCAR drivers, including her hubby, to the green flag in a hot pink car.
Of course, in true Amy fashion, she looked as calm as ever during her quick drive around the track, casually placing just one hand on the wheel. And while she looked as if she had everything under control, she did get some advice from her husband before she climbed in the car.
“He just said, ‘Turn left, obviously,’ but he hasn’t given me any advice otherwise,” Amy said in a pre-race interview with USA Today. “I’m sure he’s going to pray on me doing something wrong so he gets to make fun of me afterwards, because that’s just the kind of humor we have together. I was told, too, that I need to be prepared for the pole-sitter to bump me. It doesn’t really matter who it is. He’s going to probably text the person and make sure that that happens.”
