Now that NASCAR fans have had a little time to get used to the fact that one of the sport’s biggest stars is dating one of the NFL’s biggest stars, it’s time we know just how these two found their way to one another.
And yes, Danica is ready to tell us.
Turns out, they began a friendship after meeting all the way back at the 2012 ESPY Awards, coincidentally around the same time that Danica began getting cozy with fellow NASCAR driver turned boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
“We’ve just been sort of friends the whole time, kept in vague touch and seen each other at the ESPYs almost every year, and other places,” Danica said in an interview with “For the Win” and reported on by CBS Sports. “So one thing led to another, and we realized how similar we were, and yeah, that got the ball rolling.”
During the interview, Danica goes on to say that they remained distant friends while they both were in serious relationships. Fans will recall that Aaron was dating actress Olivia Munn up until April of 2017 when they broke up. Danica and Ricky called it off late last year.
And then, Danica and Aaron were both available, and their love story began along with their workouts. Now the two can’t seem to get enough of one another, especially when they are in the gym working on their insane physiques.
“I wrote a workout, [and] we worked out together and things like that. Put him through some ab workouts,” Danica said in the interview, which included not only details about her personal life, but also her professional life, which currently includes touting the release of her new health and fitness book, “Pretty Intense.”
Just last week, Danica weighed in on male/female relationships as a whole in an interview with podcaster Joe Rogan. “I just think we like to be told what you are thinking,” Danica said of women in the interview. “I do. I like to know what someone is thinking. I want to know about you and what’s going through your head. Everyone wants to know where they stand and what someone is thinking. What if they are thinking about someone else? I’m an all-in person, so for me, it’s not a mystery. If you want to know what’s going on in my head, I’ll tell you right now. Girls like to hear nice things, too. Girls like to be appreciated just like a guy does.”
The “For the Win” interview goes on to say that Danica and Aaron both love “visiting with friends, playing games and bonding over the books they like to read.”
How sweet is that?
“We both just have similar hobbies and interests – the kind of life that we live and wanting to travel and various different things, liking dogs,” Danica said. “Everything is easy.”
Of course, not everything is going to be easy moving forward, as the NASCAR driver prepares to compete in her final NASCAR race at this year’s Daytona 500 on Feb. 18. It sure will be interesting to see if Aaron finds his way onto pit road for his girl’s big day!
