Dale Earnhardt Jr. is no stranger to the Big Apple. After a career in the NASCAR spotlight, he’s done too many work appearances in New York City to probably count.
But it’s super fun getting to see him enjoy the city as a tourist.
Yep, country has come to town, y’all.
Junior and his wife Amy, along with some friends, hit up the city that never sleeps and all the fun stops along the way, and fortunately, there’s video of all of it.
While admiring the city and admiring his wife, Dale can’t help but comment that they’re both just “beautiful.”
The group headed up to the famed Studio 8H, home of the iconic comedy sketch show “Saturday Night Live,” to get a tour of the set, and also hopped over to the set of “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon,” which tapes in the same building since they’re both NBC shows.
Dale and Amy even had a photo op in the famous spot where the “SNL” hosts perform their opening monologues.
And of course you can’t make a trip to NYC, especially the NBC area, without visiting Rockefeller Center for some ice-skating.
The gang didn’t actually skate—probably not advisable for an expecting Amy. But she did take some time getting some great video, prompting an impatient Dale to jokingly yell, “C’mon dammit,” and then start laughing.
These two always have a good time and can’t resist affectionately picking on each other. You’ll see that in the video as they make fun of each other staying on their phones during dinner.
One thing’s for sure, their humor gets them through everything, including this not-so-funny moment that happened back in North Carolina on Jan. 17, when Junior decided to take a little drive in the snow …
… and “punched a pine tree” with his car.
Thankfully, everything was okay, and he was able to laugh about it.
We’re happy these two are truly enjoying and making the most of these last days as a duo. Come May of this year, they’ll add another member to the team: their first child, a daughter.
After retiring from racing in late 2017, we know Dale is thrilled to be able to be home more and devote more time to his family, but we have to agree with one fan comment on the video of the couple’s New York adventure.
“I will miss ol’ Junebug,” the fan wrote.
We will, too.
