NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt Jr. has spent countless hours in the seat of his racecar, but hasn’t spent too many hours with a hammer in his hands.

Well, that is, until now.

Dale Jr. and his wife Amy Earnhardt have kicked off a brand new renovation project for their upcoming show on DIY Network, and let’s just say they are working up a sweat. The star couple shared various pictures and videos on July 27, showing fans around the home they are renovating.

“It’s hot as hell,” Dale told his followers in a video shot at the site. “We are at the renovation project. Amy is here. This place is pretty rough. There is a bunch of crap around here.”

“It’s a redneck’s dream,” Amy weighs in.

“And yep, it’s pretty hot here,” adds Dale. “That’s sweat, I promise. It’s terribly hot here.”

Of course the renovation project is a distraction from Dale Jr.s impending retirement, which seems to be wearing on his heart as of late. “I get asked what [are] the emotions these last few races,” he tweeted recently. “Climbing [into] this ride @HomesteadMiami may cause me severe dehydration [before] the green.”
