Love is certainly in the air this time of the year, but not even devoted NASCAR fans were expecting this piece of news on Dec. 22.
NASCAR’s very own Kyle Larson finally popped the question!
And yes, even he admits that’s it’s about darn time.
After a long relationship with Katelyn Sweet that has already resulted in the two becoming parents to three-year-old Owen and a brand-new baby due in May of 2018, Kyle finally found the guts to make it official just before the family left on a holiday getaway.
“I know, I know … It’s about time,” Kyle wrote on his Twitter and Instagram pages with various pics of the happy event. “Can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together!! Off to New Zealand we go!”
And will you look at that ring?
Yes, it’s a beauty.
There is no doubt that Kyle and Katelyn have had much to celebrate in recent months. In addition to their new baby on the way, the couple recently enjoyed a night out at the NASCAR Awards ceremony in Las Vegas to recognize Kyle’s successful season.
“Owen is going to be a big brother,” Katelyn shared back in November. “We are so excited and blessed to announce that we will be welcoming Baby Larson #2 in May 2018.”
All this news will certainly have Kyle in the right frame of mind come 2018, as the fourth year Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver is coming off the most successful season of his career. “It was definitely a terrific year for us,” the 25-year-old Californian said in a recent interview with NASCAR.com. “I look back and four wins in the Cup series … It was a really good year and it was a breakout season for us and our race team. We went from being kind of an underdog team to favorites early in the year, and that was cool to be a part of.”
And now, Kyle has another season to look forward to.
“I feel like we’re good enough to go out there and expect to contend for wins and contend for championships,” he said. “It changes year-by-year. Next year we could be the 78 team [2017 champion Martin Truex Jr.] or we could be a mid-pack team again. You just have to put in the hard work to stay ahead of the game, and I feel like we’ve done a good job of that.”
The Kyle Larson engagement is just another piece of romantic news to come from the NASCAR family this year, as fans will recall that Tony Stewart and Pennelope Jimenez got engaged over the Thanksgiving holiday and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and wife Amy are currently awaiting the birth of their first child in 2018.
So much to look forward to, that’s for sure!
