It’s that time of year when everyone is trying to get those Christmas shopping lists taken care of, and the stress to get it done can really sap the joy out of the holidays. You have to stop and wonder if this is really what God intended when he sent his son to Earth?

That’s the question on Darius Rucker’s mind in this holiday clip. The song is called “What God Wants for Christmas,” and that Almighty wish list includes peace on earth, no dusts on Bibles and no empty seats in church.

“I couldn’t believe no one had written that before,” Rucker says of the holiday original. “It’s such a cool little thing about what Christmas is all about and the meaning of Christmas. I’m proud of that song. I love it.”

Look for Darius Rucker to perform “What God Wants for Christmas” on Thursday night’s CMA Country Christmas special at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.

If you want to check out the studio version of “What God Wants for Christmas,” you can find it on Darius Rucker’s Christmas album, “Home for the Holidays.”
