To say that Scotty McCreery has a lot to look forward to in 2018 is quite the understatement. Not only does he have his wedding to the beautiful Gabi Dugal coming up and the release of his new album “Seasons Change,” happening in March, but he also has a big game on his mind.
In case you were wondering, that game is called the Super Bowl.
“I was a fan long before [the New England Patriots] were winning,” Scotty told Rare Country in an interview just a couple of days before his beloved Pats take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4. “It’s been quite a fun dynasty to follow, especially over the past few years.”
While Scotty has traveled to the Super Bowl in the past, this year is going to be a tad different.
“Yep, I am staying home this year,” he tells Rare Country with a laugh. “I’m working 24 out of the 28 days in the month of February, and I’m pretty sure if I told Gabi I was heading to a football game instead of wedding planning on a few of my days off, she wouldn’t like it very much.”
As Scotty’s wedding gets closer, there is much to do, even on Super Bowl weekend. “You just reminded me that I have to call the catering company, but yeah, we have most of the big things done,” Scotty says. “We are sending the ‘save the dates’ out, and we need to pick out our wedding cake, but we are doing pretty good. Right now we are inviting about 230 people, so yep, it’s going to be a good size wedding.”
Of course, trying to keep everything straight between the wedding and his career has Scotty trying his best to get more organized.
“I’ve never been one for organization,” Scotty laughs. “I went to Target last week and bought a planner, and now I have it where all my stuff is in red, Gabi’s stuff in blue and everything else in black.”
And on Feb. 4, he has the game of all games circled in red, black and blue ink on that planner.
“Me and my roommates will be having a bunch of people over,” he says. “We have a big living room so it will be cool to have everyone over. Although I might be the only Patriots fan there.”
And yes, there will be food.
“Gabi likes to make dips and loves making nachos and Rotel dip,” explains Scotty about his fiancée, who loves football but doesn’t quite call herself a huge Patriots fan quite yet. “And yep, there will be buffalo chicken dip.”
And hopefully, the day will also include a win.
“I’m cautiously optimistic,” he chuckles. “I don’t want to predict anything because you never know. But it’s certainly looking good.”
But heck, with the new record and the new fiancée, Scotty is already a winner!
