RaeLynn is happily married to her longtime love Josh Davis, but their path together hasn’t been an easy one. He’s actually the inspiration behind her latest heartbreak ballad, “Lonely Call.”

RaeLynn tells us she wrote this song several years ago when she and Josh were going through a rough patch.

She tells Rare Country, “We broke up for a little bit, got back together and then got married. When we broke up, I was so upset. With any relationship, when you first break up, you want to call each other, you want to talk, because they’re your person, you know?”

“Lonely Call” is all about a woman standing up for herself and telling her ex not to call her no matter how badly she wants to talk to him, too. The lyrics are lifted straight out of RaeLynn and Josh’s story.

She says, “I remember the first time he called me [post-breakup]. I was like, ‘I’m not your lonely call. I’m not going to do this. I love you too much to do this to myself, and until you figure out … I can’t do this.’ So, it’s so funny. It’s on my record now. We’re married. It’s super full-circle.”

At first, Josh was upset that he and RaeLynn ever broke up (before they got back together, of course), but he’s since seen the silver lining. That time apart led RaeLynn to write several songs that now make up her album, “Wild Horse.”

Says RaeLynn, “[Josh is] like, ‘I used to get upset that me and you weren’t together, but now I’m just like, ‘You wouldn’t have all these songs. So, thank God.’ I was like, ‘You’re right. Everything happens for a reason.’ I honestly believe that. It’s my favorite quote to live by: everything does happen for a reason. I wouldn’t have gotten all these songs if I didn’t go through that.”

RaeLynn’s album, “Wild Horse” is available everywhere.
