Little Big Town will embark on their biggest tour ever in 2018, and they’re making sure there’s not a dull moment at any point in the trek by inviting newcomer Midland as their opening act. That band and Kacey Musgraves are on the bill for all dates, and LBT’s Kimberly Schlapman is thrilled — and a little nervous — about the lineup.
She says, “We’re so excited about Kacey Musgraves, who we adore, and Midland, who we’re kind of scared of. I’m just kidding. They’re wild boys!”
Make no mistake, there’s nothing but love among all the acts on this tour, and that bond was evident when they all announced the tour on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” earlier this year.
As for what you can expect from Little Big Town’s headlining set, band member Phillip Sweet says, “We’re working on the production right now. It’s going to be quite different than anything we’ve ever done.”
Kimberly adds, “We’re gonna do it like Reba! We’re gonna have costume change booths and everything.”
But bandmate Jimi Westbrook is a little concerned about living up to Reba McEntire’s legendary number of costume changes during her shows in the ’90s.
He asks, “Am I gonna change clothes, like, 25 times?”
All will be revealed when Little Big Town kicks off “The Breakers” tour with Kacey Musgraves and Midland on Feb. 8. Go to LittleBigTown.com for tour dates.
Little Big Town is up for Duo/Group of the Year and Midland is nominated for New Artist of the Year at the Rare Country Awards. Voting is open through Dec. 13 at RareCountryAwards.com. Winners will be announced during our livestreamed concert event on Dec. 14.
