Cassadee Pope has been writing new songs like crazy lately, and you’ll hear a few of them on her upcoming project. She’s been in the studio all summer long, so the new batch of tunes will be finished in about two or three weeks.
We caught up with Cassadee at the “ACM Honors” show in Nashville, where she presented the Tex Ritter Award to the cast and crew of CMT’s “Nashville. That appearance was one of the few breaks she’s taken from the recording studio lately, and she’s ready to give her fans a musical update on where she is in her life.
Cassadee and her fiancé, All Time Low band member Rian Dawson, called off their engagement recently, and she tells Rare Country the things she’s been going through lately will show up in the new music.
Cassadee says, “I’m so excited for fans to hear not only musically where I am, but they’re going to hear a lot about my personal life in those songs. It will kind of give them an idea where I am mentally.”
For Cassadee, songwriting is a healthy way to express her feelings and emotions.
“I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t write,” she admits. “It’s such an amazing outlet for me. I’m really lucky with all the changes going on in my life to have that outlet. I’m just taking advantage of it. All the songwriters in town, all my friends that I love writing with have just been there for me and been, like, ‘Let’s write tonight. What are you doing later? Let’s just have some wine and write.’ It’s just been really therapeutic.”
We’ll keep you posted on Cassadee’s progress with that new music.
