First off, CMA Vocal Group of the Year nominees Little Big Town and Rascal Flatts are made up of the nicest and most dear people in the business.

Ask anyone.

And this little back and forth between the two country bands this CMA week has been nothing but a little banter between friends.

Yet, there might be a little truth behind that banter.

Country music fans may recall an interview Rascal Flatts did on Nov. 6, in which the band’s Jay DeMarcus made a comment about hoping that Little Big Town doesn’t come home with a Vocal Group of the Year win at the CMA Awards since it would tie Rascal Flatts’ record for most consecutive wins (6) in the category.

“I hope that Little Big Town doesn’t break our record,” Jay said. “I love them, I just don’t want them to break our record.”

And now, Little Big Town has weighed in.

“Did they say that?” laughed LBT’s Karen Fairchild in an interview with ABC Radio. “They’re all good friends of ours. We’re not expecting to win, so, I mean, it would be awesome … but we used to call this award the Rascal Flatts award. So, the fact that we’ve even been up there this many times is insane. I’m gonna send them a text right now and say, ‘Thank you for the love!'”

Little Big Town has won the category every year since 2012. Will they win again tonight and tie Rascal Flatts? Tune into “The 51st Annual CMA Awards” airing on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
