It’s appropriate that each year the ACM awards are held in Las Vegas, because in this business, everything is a gamble and nothing is a sure thing.
Nothing except for Carrie Underwood.
Whenever Carrie takes the mic, you know you’re in for a treat. In 2010, Carrie led an all star group of Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Charlie Daniels and rock icon John Fogerty that not only kicked off the show, but also launched it like a rocket ship.
Pretty appropriate for a bunch of people who make their living touring from town to town.
Carrie’s history with the ACM’s is a storied one. She has been crowned the winner in so many categories that she’s one of only six artists in ACM history to have won the prestigious ACM Triple Crown, which means wins as Top New Female/Male Vocalist, Top Female/Male Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year. Merle Haggard, Barbara Mandrell, Mickey Gilley, Kenny Chesney and Brooks & Dunn were the five artists/duos who accomplished that feat, and in 2009, Carrie was the sixth country artist to do so.
By winning the Entertainer of the Year award in both 2008 and 2009, she became the first female in ACM history to win it twice, which is something nobody else has ever done.
The 51st annual ACM Awards will air live from Las Vegas’ Grand MGM Garden Arena on Sunday, April 3, at 8 pm ET on CBS.
