Flashback to the time George Strait played this epic round of hits at the 38th annual ACM Awards YouTube

Back in 2003, George Strait already had a boatload of hits.

So, when he gave fans a taste of five chart-toppers at the 38th annual ACM Awards, they were in for a real treat.

Introduced by the legendary Reba McEntire, George first charms the audience with the toe-tapping chorus of “Write This Down” — a song about a companion who leaves but is told to take a note with them as a constant reminder that they’ll always be loved.

Clad in a cowboy hat and tan colored suit jacket, George then segues into the waltz-filled “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind” before playing guitar-picked tune “She’ll Leave You With A Smile.”

And, we’re pretty sure the veteran has the crowd smiling the whole way through.

Closing out his performance, George plays two more No. 1’s — “Check Yes Or No” and “The Chair.”

Not only has George racked up enough country hits to last a lifetime, but the two-time ACM Awards Entertainer of the Year winner has also snagged a stockpile of trophies, too.

It’s no wonder they call him “The King of Country.”
