New year, new hairdo — that seems to be Carrie Underwood’s prerogative before Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards show.

The 34-year-old country powerhouse says that a hair transformation has been long overdue. So, she has decided touch up her platinum blonde locks.

In a March 28, Instagram post she writes, “I haven’t had my hair colored since November! It was time… @marissadanelle had her work cut out for her! Finished product will be on display this weekend 😜”

The shot above shows Carrie sitting in a salon chair with her golden mane underneath the blow dryer. And, she looks just as stunning as ever, despite having wet hair from the freshly added dye. She flashes a playful wink for the camera, and even manages to fit her sizable, sparkling wedding ring into the pic! Though it appears as though she’s kept the mommy bob, her tresses look a bit darker.

Carrie picked the perfect time to switch things up, as she will be attending the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 2. Not only is she up for two trophies, including the highly coveted Entertainer of the Year award, but she’s also set to perform her upbeat duet, “The Fighter,” with fellow country singer Keith Urban.

The 2017 ACM Awards will air live on Sunday night from Las Vegas.
