Generally speaking, we tend to pigeonhole celebrities into remaining the same person they were when we first became acquainted with him. Sweet Lauren Alaina was just a 16-year-old cheerleader from Georgia when we met her on “American Idol.” But, abandoning all rules of the English language and journalism … she ain’t no mo’.

Lauren has just released the video for her newest single, “Doin’ Fine,” and not only is she doing fine and singing fine, she’s looking so damn fine we’re losing our minds.

If you haven’t heard “Doin’ Fine” yet, the song is the most autobiographical tune we’ve heard Lauren sing. She wrote it with Emily Shackelton and busbee about the life events that have most affected her since “Idol,” and while we wouldn’t want to assume it is completely literal, she does have some lines about her parents’ divorce that sound pretty accurate.

What we can take literally, though, is the stone cold fox that Lauren is in this video. While the song tells a story, the video is more of an imaging piece that shows that the country star truly is at her all-time best.

Wearing a handful of designer looks while strolling catwalks, Lauren shows she’s now a 22-year-old woman of confidence and accomplishment, but her face reflects the intense emotions of the story she is singing. It’s a melding of art and humanity.

And it is stunning.

It’s been a banner year for our little Lauren, who notched her first No. 1 single with “Road Less Traveled.” She was also part of a film based on the song that was released this summer, and burned up the road on tour all year, even sharing the stage with Keith Urban and one of her idols, Martina McBride.
