It was a much-needed week of celebration, love and laughter in country music, and when it comes to the latter, it’s hard to imagine anyone else that could make us giggle more than Blake Shelton.

But in this week’s Rare Country’s 5, it isn’t actually Blake or his stunning pop icon girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, that had us rolling on the floor. It was their doppelgangers, carefully covered up actors with the appropriate accouterment to effectively represent the superstars during a hilarious skit on “Saturday Night Live.” Of course, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and there was no harm done in the zingy spoof on reality shows that super-sized Gwen and Blake’s personalities. In fact, pretty Ms. Gwen even got a chuckle out of it, and said so on her socials.

“Saturday Night Live” wasn’t all jokes and giggles for country music this week, though. Embracing the gravity of the shooting in Las Vegas which happened just six days before the show aired, its producers invited Jason Aldean to come and address the incident, and kick off the night’s episode. And Jason? Well, he did us proud with a sincere statement of grief, sympathy and fortitude.

And like the star that he is, he opened the show with a cover of the late Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.”
