Every time we hear Dan + Shay perform we are amazed at their incredible talent. Of course, they’ve clearly proven themselves in country music and gained a loyal and sizable fan base, but they possess such a God-given gift, they’re able to tackle any kind of music. They proved it on Dec. 7 when they appeared on the nationally-syndicated radio program, “The Bobby Bones Show.”

Like many radio stations and broadcasters across the United States, “The Bobby Bones Show” is raising awareness and money for the fine folks at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For the broadcast, the show’s staff invited country stars to stop in and sing a song for their listeners. And, as Bobby usually does, he asked each act to sing a cover song instead of one of their own.

Dan + Shay went outside the format for their choice, but it was fun to hear them stretch out and still stay true to who they are with the Ed Sheehan pop hit, “Perfect.”

While we aren’t going put any pressure on them or invite judgment by saying their performance was perfect, we are going to say it was darn close.

With Shay Mooney singing lead and Dan Smyers playing guitar and providing harmonies, they were absolutely enchanting with a slightly countrified version of Ed’s newest No. 1.

Like most country stars, Dan + Shay are on a holiday break after one of their busiest years so far! Dan married his bride, Abby Law, in May and after giving birth to their so adorable son, Asher, in January, Shay and his bride, Hannah Billingsley, tied the knot in October. In addition, the fellas were all over the road and across the ocean with Thomas Rhett on the “Home Team Tour,” and also headlined their own run of shows on the “Obsessed Tour” with Walker Hayes.

But still, they carved out a little time on this chilly December morning to support Bobby and help raise money for the kids and staff at St. Jude. Did you know that thanks to the generous donations of country music fans and so many others, no child is ever refused treatment at St. Jude for an inability to pay? Amazing, isn’t it?

It’s pretty easy to understand how Dan + Shay landed in the Duo/Group of the Year category for this year’s Rare Country Awards, isn’t it? Of course, it’s up to you to decide the winner. Vote now at RareCountryAwards.com until Dec. 13. Winners will be revealed during a livestreamed concert event on Dec. 14 in Nashville.
