Luke Combs’ new video begins with his girlfriend breaking up with him and storming out. And with a song title like “When it Rains It Pours,” the viewer might be expecting a country boy’s lonely exploration of heartbreak and loss. Well, Luke totally throws viewers a curve as his luck changes and the video reveals all the unexpected blessings that start raining down on the fun-loving bachelor in the wake of her departure.
Luke co-wrote the treatment for the video with director Tyler Adams and then mixed business with pleasure by enlisting his best buddies from high school to join him for the two-day video shoot in Charleston, South Carolina, over the July 4th holiday weekend. Luke and pals made the best of a good time, as the video shows them Jet Skiing, boating, fishing and hanging with pretty girls.
“Every night on tour when we start playing ‘When It Rains It Pours,’ you can feel the fans kick it up a notch,” Luke says. “It’s just a fun song and I always think ‘Damn, I kinda wanna be this guy in the song. He’s got it figured out.’ So for the video, I convinced my buddies to meet me in Charleston, we traced the footsteps of the song for two days at the beach and, somehow, they let us film it as an official music video. I hope the fans have as much fun watching this as we had making it.”
“When it Rains It Pours” is the follow-up to Luke’s chart-topping hit single, “Hurricane,” from his debut album “This One’s for You,” released in June. Luke’s fans can join the Asheville, North Carolina, native for a good time this fall as he hits the road, headlining his “Don’t Tempt Me with a Good Time Tour.” The trek kicks off Oct. 3 in Los Angeles and will visit 25 cities.
