Filling the shoes of the legendary Dolly Parton is downright tough. But when Kellie Pickler made a go at it, she did a pretty fantastic job.

The 31-year-old singer and television personality teamed up with Kenny Rogers on his famous 1983 hit duet, “Islands In The Stream,” during a recent episode of her talk show,“Pickler & Ben.” Kellie took on Dolly’s part in the duet.

Co-host of the show Ben Aaron gave the two artists a warm welcome prior to their performance, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time ever, Kenny Rogers and Kellie Pickler, ‘Islands in the Stream.’”

“Oh no! I’m no Dolly. I’m gonna try,” Kellie then nervously said before her new duet partner began singing the lyrics to the No. 1 pop/country classic.

Kenny appeared completely relaxed as he showcased his warmth and charm during his lines on the tune. Meanwhile, Kellie, who seemed overcome with excitement, swayed back and forth in her chair until it was time for her to take on Dolly’s role.

And, boy did she deliver! The blonde-haired beauty totally nailed her part of the ballad, adding just enough country twang and charisma to make her country cohorts proud.

In October, Kenny and Dolly delivered their final live performance of their duet during the epic, “All In for the Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration” at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

“Islands in the Stream” was written by the Bee Gees, and can be found on Kenny’s 1983 album, “Eyes That See in the Dark.”
