Chris Stapleton had already made quite a splash at the 49th Annual CMA Awards.

He had already taken the stage to accept his award for “New Artist of the Year” and “Album of the Year” for his groundbreaking album “Traveller,” and heck, the arena was still buzzing from his earth-shattering performance alongside Justin Timberlake. But then came the award for “Male Vocalist of the Year.” Up against the likes of country mainstays Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton, there was no way Stapleton could take this one too…right?

Wrong!

“Well there is probably going to be a party tonight,” he began during his acceptance speech. “About two years ago I lost my dad and I think a lot about the music he would have liked, and he would have liked to see this.”

Oh he did Chris Stapleton.

We are absolutely sure he did.
