Jason Aldean was in the midst of singing his 2013 hit “When She Says Baby” when he heard the shots ring out at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas Oct. 1. He continued to sing and strum his guitar as he looked around to see what was going on.

It had to be fireworks.

It just had to be.

And then, there was the moment that you could tell that he knew something was very wrong. The moment he knew that his fans were dropping to their deaths in front of him. The moment he knew that he had to drop his guitar and run. The moment that his life may have even flashed before his eyes.

“Insane,” a concertgoer tweeted out with a video of the shocking moment. “This JUST happened.”

Jason was one of seven performers playing the festival’s main stage Sunday night, a group that also included Tyler Reeve, Kane Brown, Dee Jay Silver, Big & Rich, Josh Abbott Band and Jake Owen.
As of the latest report, at least 58 people were killed 515 more injured when a lone gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino onto the festivalgoers gathered below.
