Montgomery Gentry singer Troy Gentry’s Sept. 8 death in a helicopter crash was sudden and shocking. Throughout the duo’s nearly two-decade career, Troy and his duo partner Eddie Montgomery toured with just about every superstar you could name in country music. They were also beloved members of the Grand Ole Opry for nearly a decade.

The official statement on Troy’s death was posted on Montgomery Gentry’s Twitter account.

The news of Troy’s untimely death broke almost immediately as the country world learned of the passing of Country Music Hall of Fame member Don Williams.
