Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you don’t know how to have a good time.

Just ask Thompson Square.

Looking amazing as they walked hand in hand on the 2015 CMT Music Awards red carpet June 10, the married duo of Shawna and Keifer Thompson told Rare Country that they wanted to bring a party atmosphere to their upcoming third studio album, which leads off with the couple’s current feel-good retro single “Trans Am.”

“Everybody else is having fun going out there and partying, and just because we are married doesn’t mean we don’t like to party,” Shawna said. “There are some artists that we have gone on the road with that…I don’t think they can hang with us. (Laughs) We just wanted to show off that side.”

“No one parties like this married couple,” Keifer shouted out.

But have no fear fans. The evolution of Thompson Square doesn’t mean that they’ll abandon the formula that made them one of country music’s most intriguing duos.

“We have some amazing ballads and great story songs (on the record), which is what country music is all about,” Keifer said. “I really hope we hold that integrity as a genre.”
