It’s a bittersweet week for the family of the late, great Glen Campbell.
The country icon received a Grammy Award nomination in the Best American Roots Performance category for his song, “Arkansas Farmboy.”
And although the family is absolutely thrilled over this recognition, it has to be so hard to not to be able to celebrate this joyous news with Glen, who passed away in August.
Glen’s daughter Ashley posted the sweetest throwback photo of their family on her Instagram page, with a special note paying tribute to her late father’s outstanding performance of the song.
Dad received a Grammy nomination for Best American Roots Performance for Arkansas Farmboy! His heartbreaking, wistful vocal on this song gives me chills every time I listen. I’m so proud of him and so honored that I had the opportunity to play banjo on this song. #grammys #glencampbell #congratulations #dad #grammynominated #arkansasfarmboy #adios
“Dad received a Grammy nomination for Best American Roots Performance for ‘Arkansas Farmboy!’ His heartbreaking, wistful vocal on this song gives me chills every time I listen,” she captioned the photo. “I’m so proud of him and so honored that I had the opportunity to play banjo on this song.”
Ashley has played on many of her dad’s records and tours in addition to her own endeavors as a songwriter and artist.
She’s carrying on his legacy in the most beautiful way, especially with the song “Remembering,” a heartfelt and emotional ballad she wrote a few years ago about Glen’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
We can’t help but cry when she sings it. This family is such an example of faith, resilience and love.
We celebrate Glen’s Grammy nomination with Ashley and her family, and know that Glen would be so proud.
If you haven’t taken the time to listen to Glen’s final studio album, “Adios,” you absolutely must.
