If you were alive and listening to country music back in 1994, there’s no way you didn’t try to memorize the lyrics to John Michael Montgomery’s monster hit, “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident).” That tongue twister of a chorus had everyone trying to sing like a fast-talking auctioneer.

The light-hearted video, set at a cattle auction, helped propel “Sold” to an even bigger level of success. John Michael’s leading lady in the clip is really quick on her feet as she dances around the cattle auction floor. Those close-up shots of her legs made it very clear why John Michael just couldn’t keep from losing his heart to the “Pretty lady” with the “ruby red lips, blonde hair and blue eyes.”

“Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” was included on John Michael Montgomery’s self-titled third album, which sold 4 million copies. The song would go on to be the No. 1 song for all of 1995 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart.
